Dozy House

Dozy House was the second guesthouse I stayed in Chiang Mai which I found through Agoda. Since my stay in Chiang Mai was not purely leisure, I was waiting for my employment visa to be processed and I have no idea how long will it take, I decided to move to a budget guesthouse compared to the one I first stayed.

Dozy House is located inside the Old City of Chiang Mai, on the northwestern side between Chang Puak Gate and Suan Dok Gate. The location is more of a residential area the makes the place quiet and peaceful. The tourist area is on the opposite side,  the eastern part of the Old City near the Tha Pae Gate.

The rooms are spacious and clean, flooring is finished cement with embedded tiles that gives highlight to it, walls are painted with decor, bathroom floors and walls are finished cement accented with tiles.

The ground floor is an open space where the guests can find the reception counter and a dining area. At one corner is the coffee/tea station with bread, butter and jam free to the guests 24 hours. In the morning, fruits can be found as well which are also complimentary.

At the far end is the kitchen which is also open to the in-house guests whenever they would like to cook their own food. All utensils are provided to be used, but please ensure to clean everything as you go. Motorbikes and bicycles can also be hired at a minimal rate on a per day basis.

The ground floor also serves as a garage to a mini van that sells “sperm drink” which arouses my curiosity due to the name. I asked Jina, the owner about this “sperm drink”, she was laughing explaining that it is an iced cold drink with round jelly that has tail, similar shape to that of a sperm. It was really funny and creative.

The reception area is also a place for Jina’s friends to hang around and have meals together. One evening they invited me to join them for dinner, unfortunately I just had Pad Thai when the food came, there was no more space in my tummy. However, I managed to have a taste of their palate tempting dishes,  hmmmmm….so yummmmmy!

This is Jina

My stay in Dozy house was such a lovely experience,  thank you Jina and to all of your friends for all the assistance accorded to me during my stay, a truly Thai hospitality! I would definitely recommend your place to anybody planning to visit Chiang Mai, and if by chance, I may have the opportunity again to be in Chiang Mai, my restless feet know where to rest, certainly… Dozy House.
