Cruising Wadi Bani Kharous – Al Alia Village

My Fun Friday, this trip was a kind of “strike anywhere” meaning no fixed destination. The previous night I was searching the web where to go on a Friday and a lot of destinations to choose from. I decided to take the Nakhal-Rustaq Road, if I won’t find anything and end up in Rustaq, I would at least enjoy the drive on this road with scenic view left and right. We left muscat at 9AM which is already late but as we wanted to spend the day on leisure so we allowed ourselves to be flexible with the  timing, not to be governed […]

Cruising Wadi Bani Awf

Wadi Bani Awf is famous for the Big Snake Canyon or Snake Gorge and the village Bilad Sayt. Read several reviews prior to setting out for this trip and all the reviews I read are saying that the road is dangerous, steep and narrow. I am not an experienced off-road driver hence I can’t venture on this trip  without any co-pilot. The trip was finalized on 15th May, one of my Fun Fridays (this is my weekly ritual) and since my car is a 3D 4WD, can’t take more than 3 persons  including the driver as it would be uncomfortable. We […]

Food Trip Friday at Bait Al Luban

Food Trip is what I call my eating out activity looking for something new to my taste buds or simply going back to a favorite restaurant. On this particular Friday evening 3rd April 2015, my friends and I have chosen Bait Al Luban, it is a restaurant in Muttrah just opposite the Muttrah Fish Market. No one from us has been there before, all of us were first timers and we agreed based on the reviews we read from the web. First thing that impressed me was the ambiance, I have that kind of attachment to something traditional or ancient atmosphere, […]

Weekend Trip – Rustaq

Fridays and Saturdays are the weekends in  Oman which I call “Fun Days” that I treat myself to a road trip, beach hangout or a food trip depending on the weather conditions. Yesterday I chose to do a road trip to Wadi Al Hoqayn which is located near the town of Rustaq. Wadi Al Hoqayn For everybody’s understanding, “wadi” is an  Arabic word for a valley or a dry  river bed where water flows after the rain, there are wadis in Oman where the  water is abundant throughout the year  and some are filled with water only  after a heavy […]

Tetra Tree Hotel – Wadi Musa

Prior to our visit to Jordan, it was a series of booking and cancellation of hotels in Wadi Musa. The cost of 5* hotel was beyond our budget hence we have to stay in a cheaper hotel. Several hotels were booked and cancelled and finally, Tetra Tree was chosen. It was a new hotel operating in less than a month during the time of our stay in August 2013. Upon our arrival, we were served with a welcome drink which was really refreshing after coming from the heat. The lobby is spacious with relaxing ambiance with natural light illumination during […]

Seeking for Refuge

Work pressure at times could go that high that you would like to escape from it, even just for a while. Junko and I has planned this weekend for a couple of weeks back but didn’t find the opportunity. This particular weekend was indeed a blessing that both of us were free hence we took advantage of it. We were sweetly taking our time that Friday morning, relishing each moment that the clock has no power over us on this particular day, when suddenly at around 11:30 AM, power supply went off, whew! Junko hurriedly rushed to my room saying […]

An Oasis in the Middle of Nowhere

It was in December of 2006 when a friend invited me to for weekend getaway outside the city of Muscat. The invitation was a few weeks before I finally agreed to come as I was lazy to travel a hundred kilometers and hesitant to leave my comfort zone those days. We reach the resort at dusk and after check-in we went directly to the spa for a relaxing body massage. We filled up an information sheet and a waiver, assessment was done by the Spa Manager and recommendations were given to what kind of treatment that suit us best. Our […]

Dimaniyat Islands

Dimaniyat Islands is a very famous diving site in Oman located 18 kilometers off the coast of Barka (where I currently live and work) which is approximately 45 kilometers away from Muscat, International Airport. I never had any interest in visiting this place as I don’t do any kind of water sports. In conjunction with my previous post “Cruising with Oman Charter”, I decided to post about Dimaniyat Islands to give my readers an idea about the place. Dimaniyat Islands was our destination with the Oman Charter Cruise. It took us 2.5 hours to reach the place with the Orana […]

Cruising with Oman Charter

We were invited by Oman Sail to join the Tourism Day for a boat cruise to Dimaniyat Islands intended for tour operators and hoteliers in Muscat to sample their product and services being offered to hotel guests and tourists in Oman. We boarded the Orana 44 Catamaran at the The Wave Muscat Marina. Inside the boat is an air-conditioned salon that  can accommodate up to 8 people. At one corner, at the right side as one enters the salon is a mini kitchen with worktop, cooker, oven, sink and cupboards and opposite is the bar. Opposite the kitchen is a […]

I almost regretted it!

It was another long holiday in Oman sometime in the last quarter of 2011 when My Tribe organized a camping with their friends . I didn’t plan to go with them as I was not feeling well the night before until the next morning. And the fact that the time will pass by just chatting on topics that doesn’t interests me at all. They’re supposed to meet at 12:30pm near Hamriya. Everything is prepared and they were ready to go by 12:00nn. My Tribe has been persuading me to come since morning but I was just lazy until 12:00 nn […]
